Breastfeeding and the Paleo Diet
This is a topic near and dear to my heart as I'm still breastfeeding my baby. I read a lot online where people said, make sure you keep your carbs up, it can impact your milk, etc. etc. So I thought I'd sort of give you play by play as time goes on with my adjustment from the SAD (Standard American Diet) to Paleo for the pregnant or breastfeeding moms.
Week 1: Tough. I had 2 days in particular that I felt like my milk wasn't coming in as quickly and that the baby seemed more fussy. However, I reviewed what I'd eaten, and I did consume a ton of fruit and sweet potatoes, so I think she got the carbs. In hindsight, I didn't kick up the water intake and I think that is where I went wrong. Week 2 I will focus on getting plenty of water.
I also noticed she is not sleeping as long anymore. I think it's because the sugar crashes she endures are less so she's more alert. There is a noticeable change in this area. We're talking 2-3 hour naps down to 45 minutes. Not sure this is a benefit. ;)
